• Holds books close while reading
• Squints or blinks often
• Closes one eye to focus
• Avoids close, near-vision activities like colouring, playing board games, or doing schoolwork
• Uses his/her finger as a bookmark while reading
• Is not able to distinguish certain colours (red from green, for example)
• Looks cross-eyed, his/her eyes turn out, or his/her eyes don’t seem to work in unison
• Complains of sore/tired eyes
• Tilts his/her head to see better (while looking at a picture or the television, for example).

To achieve optimal results for your child, early intervention is key. The most effective way to treat vision problems in children is to detect them while the child is still growing, and their visual system is still developing.
